Ch.9: The Hunter pt.2

In the middle of the shopping district surrounded by various stores and small shops, Misu and Hita look around with Hita holding a bag in her lap. Misu pushes her wheelchair as they go down the sidewalk looking on curiously at the various shops.

            “I just noticed this for such a small colony; they do have quite a number of shops here,” Misu says happily. “And there’s such a variety of different items.”

            “That’s because it’s in the middle of the inner and outer planets, people who travel between there stop here from time to time. That’s probably why they have so many stores and such variety, this place is essentially a pot stop.”

Misu stops and looks around. “Hey Hita, someone’s following us.”

            “I know, I could feel some form of murderous intent coming from behind us for a while now,” Hita says seriously as she stares ahead.

            “For how long?”

            “Since we left school, they didn’t do a good job at hiding their presence at all,” Hita says seriously.

            “What does that say for the fairy that couldn’t sense their presence?” Misu says dejectedly. “Either way, what are we going to do?”

            “It looks like dinner will be late today; we even bought some fresh meet and everything for a stew.”

            “So we’re in agreement?”

            “Yeah, we’re going to fight.” Hit says seriously gripping the bag in her lap. “Oh but let’s find a safe place to leave our groceries, we best not waste it.”

After a while, the pair rushes into the forest before Misu begins to glow brightly as she envelops Hita and the two combine into Cascada. Cascada holds out her hand and gathers water until it forms into a spear in her hand awaiting her mysterious foe as their footsteps enter the forest. A tall woman in a leather jacket and black pants with a large hat covering her long blond hair walks up to Cascada holding a small metal rod in her mouth.

            “Hey there little girl, I was wondering when you’d start to get serious.” She says with a slight grin on her face. “Come on, we’re going to fight so at the least we can be friendly about it.”

            “Your one of those rookie buster types, sorry but I don’t have good experiences with them.”

            “Yeah yeah, same old story.” She says shifting the metal rod in her mouth. “Someone close a friend, a family member, or what not got busted and you’re on guard because of it; but I’m not the type to permanently put you out of commission, you’ll only be out for a few weeks maybe a month at worst.”

            “Either way you’re dangerous and now I’m taking you out instead.”

            “Bring it, girl.” She says excitedly as she holds out her hand. Electricity crackles in the palm of her hand as a large twin barreled sawed off shotgun forms in her hand. “The names Bronte let’s try to enjoy ourselves!”

Bronte shoots her gun as a blast of electricity shoots out with Cascada barely dodging the almost instantaneous attack. She rushes ahead spear in hand as she gathers water around her body forming an outer layer as a shield.

            “Such a child, here’s a simple lesson water conducts electricity!” Bronte yells out as she shoots another shot.

The blast hits Cascada’s barrier as she comes in knocking her slighting back as she tosses out her spear. Bronte shoots the spear shattering it into a blob of water with Cascada leaping in with an orb of water in the palm of her hand.

            “Here’s a chemistry lesson, distilled or pure water barely conducts electricity!” She yells out coming in with the orb. “Water Spike!”

Cascada brings the water to her side and sets it off sending an intense blast of water into Bronte’s side knocking her back into the brush. She starts breathing heavily as what remains of her shield fizzles away and she forms her spear again.

            “Come on out, I know this isn’t over yet.” She says calmly.

            “Well, you’re a sharp girl.” Bronte jumps up excitedly as electricity sparks across her entire body. “Now let’s see how many jolts you can take!”

Bronte rushes in smacking Cascada with the butt of her gun and quickly flipping it around to point the barrel at her pulling the trigger to shoot out a blast. The blast hits Cascada sending a rush of electricity through her body as she forces herself to leap up away from her. Bronte continues shooting rapidly as Cascada hides behind a large tree looking over her wound.

            “Damn it that hurt.” She says attempting to touch the spot.

            “I bet your starting to feel sluggish now aren’t you?” Bronte says jokingly walking towards Cascada’s spot. “I made sure that the current would pass through your body, even with magic that should be affecting your body a bit.”

Cascada attempts to stand as her vision starts to blur. Forcing herself to focus she forms orbs of water around her attempting to form some type of shield.

            “You’re a scrappy one, but in the end, you’re just a too childish kid,” Bronte says walking reaching the tree and pointing her gun. “But this will be quite the valuable experience for you….”

She looks behind the tree to find no sign of Cascada as she looks around nervously. Suddenly Cascada comes down from above attempting to form another orb of water.

            “Got ya!” Bronte shoots out a blast of electricity with the blast hitting her and sending her back.

The orb of water unleashes and nearly hits Bronte as she grins nervously turning her back on Cascada. She grins nervously and pulls a pair of shades out of her jacket and puts them on happily.

            “Your quite the strong one, maybe in a few more years you’ll be ripened enough to put up a decent fight, now it’s time to keep hunting Nizana.” Bronte says happily walking off.

Behind the tree, Cascada separates into Hita and Misu as the pair starts attempting to move with Misu being somewhat exhausted and unable to focus. Hita forces herself up and grabs Misu as the pair looks ahead seriously.

            “That one’s strong,” Hita says seriously.

            “Yeah she’s stupidly strong; those two aren’t a match for someone like that,” Misu says clenching her fist. “Damn it, we barely got them to use even half of their full power.”

            “It’s infuriating I know, but calm down, all we can do is recover our strength and train for now,” Misu says seriously. “I’m just worried about the others right now; hopefully they’ll have better luck than we did.”
