Ch.57: Survive the Dark Night

In the middle of the forest as the moon hangs high overhead Raine and Odonamon looking down from above and trying not to make much noise as Terry passes underneath with a pair of Gizumon at her side. After a while, Terry passes by and Raine lets out a sigh of relief as rustling comes from above and Orla climbs down landing on the branch alongside Raine with Varanomon climbing down from above.

            “Are you sure about this?” Orla asks curiously. “We should just attack her now and get rid of her; she’s still a major threat on the board.”

            “Your right, but we don’t have to fight her now,” Raine says seriously. “I want it to take her out as a unified front.”

            “That doesn’t sound as fun as I’d hope.” She says disappointedly. “How about I go down there and take her out on my own.”

            “You better not, we’ve got a solid operation down, and we can’t risk ruining it just for you to chase kicks,” Raine says holding herself back.

Orla sighs exasperatedly as she leaps down from the branch. “Fine, we’ll head to the meeting spot and wait for you all then.”

            “Good luck to you on getting back.” Varanomon climbs down following Orla as they disappear into the bushes.

Raine sighs with Odonamon floating at her side carefully looking around to see any sign of Terry passing by. “Alright Odonamon, let’s make our move.”

            “Right.”

The pair descends the tree and runs into the bushes to cover their tracks. They trek deeper into the forest hiding away whenever they can to further cover their tracks.

            “Okay, we should be in the clear,” Raine says seriously.

Suddenly Odonamon leaps forward catching Raine as the pair move into a clearing with a laser blast shooting past them as they move. Raine looks on stunned as Terry stands with a pair of Gizumon looking down on her with a large grin.

            “Looks like I found you so do I win some form of prize for our little game of hide and seek.” She clenches her teeth stomping ahead with a twisted grin on her face. “I can barely contain myself anymore, I’ve got this new power and I’m dying to use it to pound you into the dust!”

            “Go, Poison Shroud!” Orla’s voice rings out across the area.

Suddenly a thick dark cloud covers the area blinding everyone as a pair of figures rush in grabbing Raine and Odonamon and dragging them away. As Raine regains her vision looking ahead to see Orla dragging her along as Varanomon drags Odonamon along into the forest’s brush.

            “You okay?” Orla asks curiously.

            “Yeah, for the most part, she almost got me back there. Where the hell did you come from?”

            “Oh I was following her; I was going to stalk her for a bit before heading to the meeting spot,” Orla says seriously with a grin on her face. “I was hoping she might accidently so us some kind of a weak point while I was watching.”

            “I have to admit that was a good plan.”

            “I’m a battle maniac not suicidal; I thought you would’ve learned that by now,” Orla says pouting.

            “Sorry, but did you manage to learn anything?”

            “The only thing I know for sure is that she’s bad news, I don’t know what happened since you two last fought, but she feels odd.”

            “The Bio-Hybrids are quite odd,” Odonamon says seriously. “It’s their mixture of Human and Digimon spirit, it feels incomplete somehow.”

            “Maybe it’s something to stop them from truly becoming a Digimon and only borrowing the powers of one, either way, it’s quite exciting,” Varanomon says happily.

            “Well no matter, the sun should be up soon, but we gotta get to the meeting spot soon,” Raine says seriously looking ahead. “She may give up before long, she doesn’t seem like the type to be all that patient and dedicated.”

            “Maybe, but hopefully we get to fight her soon,” Orla says excitedly.

The pair leaves into the forest carefully watching their corners to avoid any encounters with Gizumon as they start patrolling the area. Orla and Varanomon restrain themselves from fighting as Raine pushes them along with Odonamon checking their rear.

Before long they come to a stop in another clearing with various Gizumon swarming the area in increased number as the pair hide within the bushes. As they hide observing the area cautiously they notice Terry walking into the area and making a large huff as she stomps on the ground annoyed of the goings on.

            “Seriously what the hell!? Where are those guys!?” She yells out stomping her feet repeatedly annoyed by the situation. “I want to fight, I want to fight them, and my body won’t cool down until I kill them and their Digimon.

As she stomps around a loud ringing comes from her pocket causing her t stop as she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small phone. Pressing onto it a holographic screen with Ian appearing on the screen looking at Terry with a look of concern on his face.

            “Terry I need you to come to return to base.” He says seriously with an unflinching gaze.

            “Wait, why should I? I’m in the middle of a challenge to kill some annoying flies in our soup.”

            “Merry and Yuan’s signals have gone offline and it seems as though the factory has been breached and we are unable to contact it.”

            “Ah what the hell!” Terry stomps her foot on the ground glaring towards the screen. “Alright then, I’ll go into the factory and kill whoever is left inside of it, it’ll be easy to go in and take it back.”

            “No you’re the only one left, you know what’s happened to them already, and I need more guards around the weapon.”

            “Is it almost done?”

            “Yes, we are at Seventy-Five complete completion, at the current pace we’ll be done with it by midday tomorrow. But we can’t have any random Tamer or Digimon discovering our location.”

            “What about those guys?”

            “The chaos we’ve caused across the Digital World is preventing the Tamers from forming a united front against us, while the Digimon are too few in number and power to form a competent defense once we engage the weapon. Worry not about those so-called heroes, they will be dealt with in time, for now, let’ deal with clearing the standard play though before worrying about bonus content.”

            “Whatever you say.” She says sternly as she puts the device away. “You two got lucky today, next time you might not be so lucky so maybe consider your reward for entertaining me. Survive till the end and we’ll meet again until then have fun.”

Terry walks off taking the Gizumon with her as she disappears with Raine and Odonamon sighing loudly. Orla stands quickly with Varanomon following suit.

            “What’re you doing?” Raine asks confused.

            “Checking my surroundings gotta be sure she doesn’t follow us. Well, either way, it looks okay out there, we’ve still gotta be careful so she doesn’t follow us to our camp.”

            “Alright then do it but hurry, the sun's coming up and we need some rest.” Raine stares at the sky with a grim intention. “We’ve got ourselves a new target, something that might end this once and for all.”
