Ch. 13: Scavenging

 

In the middle of a forest Norman and Seva sit around alongside Tolbit, as he lays on the ground napping, as they stare at their Digivices waiting around.

            "Did you figure out what the issue was Chiromon?" Norman asks curiously.

            "There's no issue the Digivice is working fine as always." Chiromon says confused. "I can't figure why we couldn't Digivolve."

            "There's no issue with the Digivice, the issue is with us." Seva says seriously.

            "What do you mean?"

            "We've been blown out the system that's why we can't Digivolve."

            "System?"

            "Yeah, I mean we're in a completely other world from the one that was originally set up as some kind of training program so of course the rules of said program shouldn't apply right now."

            "So our levels are meaningless?"

            "It would seem like it, but we're still gaining experience and all out items are still here." Seva looks through her inventory curiously before looking at Norman. "I don't exactly understand what's going on with our Digivolving but we shouldn't worry about that for now."

            "Yeah we've got to worry about food and whatnot."

As the group stands around a loud siren is heard from the city before a small helicopter comes flies from it dropping off boxes over The Wilds.

            "What's that?"

            "Well the drop ships coming early tonight." Tolbit says waking up and looking at the helicopter. "Maybe it was because of that what ya call it, Digimon?"

            "Drop Ship?" Norman asks curiously.

            "You don't think they left us out her to die did you, they send a ship out here every night to send out food and supplies to populated areas."

            "So their satiating the masses to stop them from revolting and breaking into the city." Seva says generalizing the situation. "In a way it's almost inspiring."

            "Well either way, shouldn't we be getting to wherever those packages landed?" Norman asks watching one fall. "If we snag it we'll be able to have dinner."

            "Didn't you hear him, they land in populated areas." Seva walks up to Norman and smacks him on his head before whispering in his ear. "We got lucky finding Tolbit but I don't think other people are going to respond nicely to our Digimon suddenly appearing."

            "You are right apparently they terrorize this place."

            "Well then kids let's go find some food." Tolbit says walking off.

            "Wait, we'd like to avoid unnecessary attention." Seva says seriously.

            "I get it, but don't worry even though their supposed to land in the camps and whatnot a lot of them are just dumped out randomly."

            "So one in theory could get dropped away from where people are?" Norman asks curiously.

            "Yeah, but if you don't hurry up it won't stay there for long." Tolbit says rushing off into the woods.

Norman and Seva quickly follow behind him before they lose track of him in the deep dark woods.

            "Hey Tolbit why are you helping us?" Norman asks curiously.

            "Well you kids seem interesting." Tolbit says happily. "Besides I aint got nothing better to do so might as well hang around you."

            "Well thanks." Seva says begrudgingly. "But if you betray us then I'm going to kick your ass."

            "Well then aren't you the trusting type."

 

A minute later the trio arrive in a large clearing with a single box in the middle of it, before they start hiding in the bushes.

            "What're we waiting for let's go get it." Tolbit says before Seva pulls him back.

            "Something's not right." Norman says seriously before pulling out his Digivice. "Let's just be safe."

Norman pulls up a holographic map of the area before a large dot appears on it, and as the group sits around a loud stomping is heard coming from out of the woods.

            "What is that?" Tolbit asks nervously.

            "A Digimon."

As the group sits around a large chicken like Digimon with well developed legs rushes out of the forest and stands over the box before letting out a loud roar.

            "Kokatorimon, Champion Level, Data Type." Norman says scanning the Digimon. "So then this Digimon's patrolling the area."

            "Does that chicken have teeth?" Tolbit asks concerned. "Are we sure that we shouldn't abandon the box."

            "No we need the food in that thing." Seva says seriously. "And besides I'm in the mood for some chicken."

            "I agree, let's head out and take that thing." Norman says seriously.

Norman and Seva walk out of the forest with Tolbit watching them curiously as they stand around in front of Kokatorimon.

            "Hey you big fat chicken!" Seva screams out seriously. "Come here so I can fry you up!"

Kokatorimon rushes towards the pair seriously as they pull out their Digivices with their Digimon popping out.

            "Let's crush this thing." Bakemon says excitedly.

            "Hyokomon won't like us doing this." Chiromon says jokingly. "But anyway let's do this."

The pair charge at Kokatorimon, and after a minute Kokatorimon lays on the ground defeated as Chiromon and Bakemon stand over it seriously.

            "Well these kids are quite serious aren't they?" Tolbit asks curiously. "Well these kids are an interesting pair nonetheless."
