Void: Vol.II Ch.I

In the middle of a thick forest with the noise of insects and random creatures, amidst this a figure moves through the thickets. The figure moves towards a clearing where a large figure stands around seemingly waiting for them, as they step into the clearing a young woman with long black hair, a large pair of horns on her head, and a long tail with a ring wrapped around it wearing red light armor carrying a short sheathed sword, walks into the light staring at the figure.

"So this is the thing causing trouble." She says seriously, looking on she sees a large black creature on all fours with tendrils coming out of its body wiggling around covering it's body. "I have no idea how one of these got so close to the nest, even the other ones who inhabit the gardens don't come so close, but it doesn't matter because it's going to die now."

She steps forward pulling the short sword from its sheath as fire starts covering the blade as she steps forward. Seeing her the creature starts to growl at her before it slowly approaches her, before both start squaring off. As they come closer and closer a figure looks on from a tall treetop staring down at the pair.

"Now time to die." She says coldly charging ahead.

The creature charges towards her, seeing it she jumps up stabbing the creature in the back. Grabbing one of the tendrils to hold herself and gripping the hilt of her sword, she channels flames coming from her body into the sword that flow into the creatures insides frying it's insides. It cries out in pain over and over again before flames spit out of its mouth and it falls to the ground.

She jumps off it's back before walking up towards it's corpse to confirm the kill looking into its recently dead eyes. She moves away from the creature before several of the tendrils start squirming around and then jumping off of its body towards her.

As the mass of tendrils moves towards her the figure jumps from the treetops high into the air before slamming down onto the creature. "Phyre have your senses dulled, you should never turn your back on an enemy, you should remember how unpredictable these things can be, isn't that what we learned in school together."

She looks back and sees a boy with medium length black hair in large brown cloak with black clothes underneath, she looks closer and notices his gloved right arm with added length to the sleeve.

"Wait, Derrick." She looks on happily walking up to him before holding herself back. "What're you doing in Rho, if you were coming you could've called or something."

"Oh sorry, I don't really have a phone or anything." Derrick says happily stepping over the creature. "And you know I've just been wandering around so I figured it was time I came to Rho."

Derrick Vacare, The Child of the Void, an odd boy who spent his life living in the woods away from society, he was invented into the Vanguard Academy and trained due to his abnormalities. His body is infected with the Void Virus but unlike most beings he maintains his senses and hasn't become a monster, as such he was referred to as a new species the Voidians. And while the many secrets of his body still remain a mystery he lives happily journeying throughout the world searching for adventures and to right various wrongs.

"Well it's good to see you, it's been three years since we've seen each other." She says before walking off. "You just ran off after the battle, it was annoying with everyone looking for you and with no idea where you'd gone."

"Sorry, but I just wanted to look around, and looking around the world has been a fascinating experience."

"I imagine." She walks over and looks at him closely. "But how'd you get here? There's only one sky port on Rho and a Vanguard showing up would've been recorded on the passenger logs, and being the local Vanguard I would've been alerted."

"Oh well I don't need to use the airships."

            "Huh?"

Derrick grins happily before moving his cloak. "Check these out." Suddenly a large pair of leathery wing sprout from his back before he flaps his wings and lifts himself in the air. "Do you think Zephyr will be jealous?"

"That's, that's." She stares at him awestruck before he lands on the ground. "What happened? Your body is always something strange isn't it?"

"Well I wouldn't call it that, but you can if you want to." The wings return into his back before his cloak covers his body. "So then you wanna show me around?"

"Well there's not much to see, but I guess I have the time."

The pair walk off towards the forest where the mouth of a large underground tunnel awaits as they walk towards it.

In this unnamed world the beings live in fear of the Voidlings, mysterious creatures that act as the bane of mankind creating destruction across the world. Civilization is on the constant brink of destruction, but it's salvation is found in the Deus minerals and the Vanguards who wield the weapons crafted from them, and that has been the way for hundreds of years, but one day that changed.

Three years ago a boy appeared a boy with the abilities of a Voidling, and the will of a human. The boy was taken and trained as a Vanguard, but this was all the plan of a mad man. He sparked a rebellion that attacked the capital but failed and he killed the leader of the Vanguards in his wrath. In the end his plans failed the rebellion was crushed and the Vanguards rose up stronger than ever under new leadership.

In this new age the Vanguards act as individuals running across the world righting wrongs and battling monsters, while others act as defenders of the land. Over three years this new system has held strong and the world has seen a fresh era of peace, but soon that time may end and a new darkness may envelop the land.

The duo travel through the tunnel, heading deeper and deeper underground, before stopping at the mouth of another cavern. Inside the cavern small huts lay around several built into the caverns walls with various Fiends living their daily lives.

"Well welcome to the nest, well my nest we don't name the individual nests." Phyre steps in front of Derrick before grabbing his hand and leading him inside. "Come on I'll show you around."
