Void: Vol. I Ch. VIII

In the classroom the students sit around as Trak prepares the lesson.

“Okay then, today we’ll be going over the weaponry we utilize to combat the Voidlings.” Trak says pulling out a short sword from his desk. “This is the most basic weaponry, this sword is mostly made from steel, but its edges are made from Deus, can anyone tell me why that is?” Trak asks the students.

“Sir, it is because of Deuses rarity and the need for it in various places.” TAS says answering the question.

“Correct, Deus is the most necessary item in the current world, needed practically everywhere, even though our weaponry is important the divide of Deus must be even for everyone.” Trak says explaining things.

“Um Sir, how come we don’t use guns anymore?” Phyre asks curiously.

“I had hoped a fellow fiend, would be smarter.” Trak says disappointed in her. “If we would use guns then we would need to use bullets made from Dues, and then we would run out of Dues at an incredibly fast rate.” Trak explains to Phyre.

“So then we make our weapons out of the Dues, but where do they come from?” Jacob asks curiously.

“It’s not well known, but most of our weapons come from the forge, where they make and repair out weaponry while trying to improve them and the forging process.” Trak explains to the students.

He soon puts the sword away and then takes a ring and puts it in a large flask filled with an odd liquid.

“The next type of weapons are the spirit arms.” Trak says as the ring starts to glow blue in the flask.

As the ring glows brighter and brighter a humanoid figure appears covered in the blue light from the ring.

“This is a spirit, an extradimensional being that we can summon and then graft onto weapons to control their abilities.” Trak says pointing at the figure. “The ability to control spirits is rare as such very few are given a spirit arm, but the ones who master them are among the most powerful of Vanguards.” Trak explains to the students, looking specifically at Phyre.

A while later the students walk around looking at a sign on the door of the training room.

“Training postponed for today, due to repair work.” The sign says as they read it.

The group stands around looking confused about what to do next.

“So then where should we go?” Derrick asks confused.

“Well we can’t train today so I’m going back to my room.” Adelina says as she walks off followed by the other students.

“Well, why don’t we go to the library.” Jacob says making a suggestion.

“What’s a library?” Derrick asks confused.

“Well why don’t we just go so you can find out.” Tina says walking ahead of the duo.

A while later the group finds their way to the library filled with various books and computers with multiple floors.

“Well this is quite the surprise.” Henry says walking up to the group.

“Oh, Henry why are you here?” Derrick asks curiously.

“I was going to do some more research, but it seems I wasn’t going to much done today.” Henry says answering him. “And I’m surprised you’re here, you don’t seem like the studying type.” Henry says looking at Derrick.

“Well that was our idea; we figured it would be best to help him get a bit smarter.” Jacob says nervously.

“That’s quite a good idea, he could use some more smarts.” Henry says before he walks off. “Well good luck.” Henry says leaving the library.

“How do you know Dr. Garson?” Jacob asks curiously.

“Well he’s the one who brought me here.” Derrick says answering him.

            “Wait what?” Tina says confused.

After Derrick explains everything the group starts looking around the library grabbing various books.

“I’ve been wondering for a while now, but how come no one’s here?” Derrick asks looking around.

“That’s because so few people now a day’s appreciates the power of intelligence.” A voice says coming from up above.

As the group looks on they see TAS walking down holding a large amount of books.

“Most people have forgotten the strength of strategy and intelligence; they believe all they need is power and strength.” TAS says explaining himself to the group.

“So then, you came here to study to TAS?” Tina asks nervously.

“Yes, only me and another come here every day during our free time.” TAS says explaining himself. “If you would, please keep it quite.” TAS says walking away from the group.

“Well he’s an odd one.” Tina says as he walks off.

A while later the group sits around with Derrick getting bored of sitting around.

“I’m so bored; I didn’t know studying would be so boring.” Derrick says complaining about the studying.

“Well, I guess Henry was right about you not being the studying type.” Jacob says teasing Derrick.

As Derrick looks back he sees Tina and Jacob sitting very close to each other.

“So what’s that about?” Derrick asks jokingly.

“What we’ve always been close.” Tina says answering him embarrassed.

“Yeah, but you’ve been acting weirder since you kissed him.” Derrick says teasing her.

“You saw that?” Tina asks embarrassed.

“Well, maybe we should just tell him.” Jacob says hoping to end the conversation.

“What is it?” Derrick asks confused.

“Well, we decided to start dating.” Tina says embarrassed by the statement.

            “Dating?” Derrick asks confused.

“Well, dating means that we’ve decided to see if we want to be together forever.” Jacob says trying to explain it.

“Well, we’ve been together since forever, but now we’re seeing if we can be more than friends.” Tina says trying to explain things a bit better.

“I don’t really get it, but I’m happy for you two.” Derrick says trying to wrap his head around things.

“Yeah, I have to do my best to be stronger.” Jacob says silently.

As the group makes their way to their dorms they see a group of students standing in front of a sign.

“Tomorrow we’ll begin the injections.” The sign says as the students read them.

“Injections?” Derrick asks confused by the statement while all the students around him look on nervously.

Time to take your medicine.
