Poke’Fusion Vol.1

Ch.8: Team Schism

Inside of Echo’s underground laboratory Jude, Orrin, Iona, and Echo stand opposite a trio of thuggish looking boys with two looking at one in the center looking at the others with a mischievous grin. He glances around at the various pieces of machinery inside of the lab and then turns his gaze towards Echo with a wide grin.

“You’ve been holding out on us little Echo.” He says grinning widely.

“Yeah, you’ve been ducking on us for a while now.”

“Sending, your little hit girl to take us out, that’s outright cold girl.”

“Oh come on, you guys were the ones extorting me! So don’t sit around there trying to act like the victims!” Echo yells out enraged by the trio’s accusations.

“So what’s going on here?” Orrin asks curiously.

“Basically these Team Schism guys claim to own the area and they’ve been trying to extort everyone around, most people consider them a giant joke considering the groups made up of a bunch of kids, but Echo took them kind of seriously,” Iona says explaining things. “Anyway long story short she called me to help her by taking out any of their gang that approaches her lab.”

“Now I remember where I’ve heard of these guys, they came by the shop to try to get some money but Mister scared them off,” Jude says looking at the two. “I even think it was the same two.”

“Yeah they’re a pretty small group and again they’re just a bunch of dumb kids,” Iona says with a grin on her face.

“So they’re not a threat essentially.” Orrin grins sinisterly as he walks over towards the Team Schism goons. “What do they think they’re doing acting like big shots when they’re the smallest of the small fries!?”

“There’s his old habit again,” Jude says exasperatedly.

“He should really stop this, I have to display dominance thing before it becomes a bad habit,” Iona says similarly exasperated.

“What the hell, don’t look down on us you fool!” One of the goons yells out annoyed as he snaps his fingers.

Suddenly a pair of spherical Pokémon exuding an odd thick gas descends from above before floating inside of the room. “With a snap of our fingers, these Koffing will use Self-Destruct ad blow everything in this room to kingdom come!”

“So you’re going to blow all of us up?”Iona asks curiously. “Wouldn’t you get caught in the blast too?”

“We’re really fast runners and we’re close to the stairs.” One of the goons says confidently.

“But you have to move away from the stairs to look around the room and check everything out, either way, this situation sounds like a lose-lose for you,” Orrin says confidently.

“JUST SHUT UP!” The boss yells out enraged. “We’ll do what we do and that’s it, don’t you lot try to poke holes in our way of life!”

“Well said boss!” The two goons yell out happily.

Jude, Iona, Orrin, and Echo look on in some form of disbelief before gathering together into a circle. They calm themselves and try to think of the situation as Echo keeps the machine with the orb in it within her eyesight.

“So what’re we going to do about these guys?” Orrin asks curiously. “If we take out the Koffing out right then we don’t have to worry about at all.”

“No way, no way in hell are we putting my Lab at risk besides the results for the orb should be done pretty soon,” Echo says seriously.

“Well then what are we going to do?” Iona asks concerned. “Because anything outside of fighting is outside of my wheelhouse.”

“I do have some form of a plan,” Jude says seriously as he looks back towards the goons. “Let’s just give them what they want.”

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?” Echo yells out enraged. “Why the hell are we going to give them the stuff from my Laboratory?”

“Because they don’t know what anything in here is worth, and if they get close to anything too important then we’ll just distract them with something,” Jude says with a large grin on his face.

“Alright, we’ll go with it, just make sure they don’t touch the scanner or my computer,” Echo says seriously.

“So have you come to a decision?” The head goon asks curiously.

“We have and you’ll love it,” Jude says happily. “Just take whatever you want.”

He grins happily walking up towards Jude. “Alright, we’ll take what we want.”

He snaps his fingers as his pair of goons rush towards the sides of the room. One looks at the scanner with the orb within it and opens it pulling out the orb and looking at it seriously.

            “What?” Jude asks confused.

“You said that we could take whatever we wanted, and I saw Echo eyeing this thing so I figured it must be important.” He says looking down at Jude. “You figured we wouldn’t notice, but now we’re going to take it and blow this place!”

            “What!?” Everyone yells out confused.

“That’s what you get for not taking us seriously.” He says excitedly as he rushes towards the staircase snapping his fingers.

The goons rush towards the staircase as the Koffing lower to block the way. Jude and the others reach for their Poke’balls as the Koffing ready themselves for the attack.

“Exeggcute, Sleep Powder!” Echo yells out seriously.

Quickly her Exeggcute surround the Koffing and shoot spores at each of them causing the two Pokémon to fall to the ground asleep. Happily, the Exeggcute return to her side bouncing around excitedly as she looks over at the Koffing.

“Let’s go, guys!” Jude yells out seriously as he rushes towards the staircase.

“Right!” Orrin and Iona yell out rushing behind him.

Echo begins to follow after them but looks back as her computer starts beeping and a long string of text appears on the monitor. “The analysis is done, it must’ve finished before that idiot pulled the orb out of the machine, well it’s not like I’ll be much help in a fight anyway.”

Echo sits in front of her computer monitor and looks at the data as it continues coming in. I wish you guy’s good luck, even if they’re weaklings it doesn’t mean they don’t have a trick or two up their sleeves.
