Ch. 17: Pursued

 

In a dark grimy back alley Jacob and Marin rush along hoping to avoid some people pursing them, before Marin falls to the ground tired.

            "Marin come on." Jacob says reaching out his hand to her.

            "Sorry, but I'm not used to this." Marin catches her breath before standing up and looking at Jacob. "How did they find us I was being so careful, how on earth could they track us there."

            "Mistress." Bytemon says from inside the Digivice. "It appears that the black box we had procured had been emitting a signal since we hacked into it and they tracked us from it."

            "I wonder what was the purpose of the signal?"

            "It was probably to alert the person working alongside Millenniummon." Jacob says seriously. "But we can't sit around here for too long, we have to get away."

            "Kid their catching up." Antubmon says from inside the Digivice. "We better get moving if we wanna keep our head start."

            "Right, come on Marin."

            "Right."

Jacob grabs Marin before rushing down the alley again as several figures rush past the alley before one flashes a flashlight down the alley.

            "Sir we've found something." The flashlight points on some footprints leading down the alley.

            "Good keep following them."

 

Jacob and Marin continue rushing along before finding themselves in a large crowd in the middle of the street.

            "Okay, let's blend into the crowd and keep ourselves hidden." Jacob says pulling up his hood.

Jacob and Marin walk along the crowd bumping into people as they pass along.

            "Do you think we got away?" Marin asks curiously.

            "Don't know, but I hope so."

Suddenly a large explosion happens behind the crowd as the screens surrounding them turn red showing warning symbols.

            "Alert, Alert, a Digimon attack is going on downtown please make your way out of the area and hide in some nearby buildings." A voice says on the monitors.

The crowd rushes along trying to get away from the area as Jacob and Marin stand around.

            "What're we going to do?" Marin asks concerned. "We can't let this attack go on."

            "Your right." Jacob lets go of Marin's hand and holds onto her shoulders. "Marin you hide somewhere and then I'll go and fight the Digimon."

            "But wait then you'll be captured."

            "That doesn't matter, you have the data and the skill to crack it." Jacob says seriously. "You just get away and hack it and then find a way to reunite with the others and then you can worry about me."

            "But, I said we'd be together." Marin says seriously. "I don't want to abandon my friends, I don't want to be by myself again."

            "Don't worry I know you can do it Marin."

Jacob rushes off through the crowd and heads to towards the commotion leaving Marin alone standing around.

            "Mistress, Jacob's reasoning is logical so we should get away." Bytemon says from inside the Digivice.

            "Right I agree it's a logical step, it's the right choice to make."

 

Jacob rushes out of the crowd to the middle of down town where he finds a trio of Guardromon shooting off missiles out at the buildings.

            "Okay reload, Antubmon!"

Antubmon comes rushing out of the Digivice and starts rushing towards the Guardromon.

            "Shadow Blast."

Antubmon concentrates before shooting off a blast of energy out at a Guardromon gaining the groups attention.

            "Okay let's go Jacob let's Digivolve." Antubmon says rushing back to Jacob's side.

            "Okay."

Jacob holds out his Digivice as he tries to concentrate only for nothing to happen.

            "What the, I can't do it."

            "Wait what."

The Guardromon concentrate on Jacob before shooting off missiles at him, before the missiles can hit one Guardromon appears taking the blast and shielding Jacob.

            "What the?"

Jacob looks on to see a wire emerging from the Guardromon pointing towards an alley where Bytemon emerges alongside Marin.

            "Marin, what're you doing here?"

            "I told you we'd be together you idiot!" Marin yells out rushing to Jacob's side and hitting him. "Don't ever think about leaving me behind ever again."

            "Okay." Jacob says nervously.

            "Well isn't this sweet." A familiar voice says from nearby the group. "Aren't you two a cute couple."

            "What the who are you?"

As the group look up and see a figure standing up  on a platform above the group of Guardromon.

            "Well then, time for us to make a deal shall we you little brats." The figure says seriously looking onto the two.
