Ch. 11: Work Days

 

In a small apartment above a restaurant Cole sleeps on the floor alongside Joulmon as a knocking is heard down below.

            "Wake up kid, it's time for opening!" A voice says down below. "Hurry up and wake up!"

Cole wakes up groggily and starts making his way out of the room.

            "I'm coming." Cole says tired. "Come on Joulmon, it's time for work."

Cole wakes up Joulmon and returns it to his Digivice before leaving the room and rushing down stairs.

 

Cole makes his way to the restaurant down stairs where a large man stands around opening up the door.

            "Okay kid, are you ready for work?" The man opens up the door and walks inside. "Well then come on."

            "Yes sir." Cole says following after him.

A minute later Cole stands in the back of the restaurant cooking meat on a large stove as his Digivice sits in his pocket.

            "I wish I could have some of that meant." Joulmon says drooling in the Digivice. "This job is torture."

            "Joulmon, be quiet he's letting us stay here for free and he's even paying me for this I'll feed you later."

            "Fine then."

            "Okay kid, how's that meat coming?" The man asks walking up to Cole.

            "It's coming along well, it's almost done."

            "That's great." The man laughs loudly getting Cole's attention. "Who would've thought that a random kid I found on the street would be a great chief."

            "Well, I'm just used to cooking meat at home."

            "And you still haven't told me where that is?"

            "I really can't." Cole says nervously before turning his attention back to the meat. "I have my reasons."

            "Well whatever, as long as you keep cooking that meat good then that's all that matters."

The man walks off leaving Cole to keep cooking as Cole looks on seriously.

            "But one day I'll get back home after I help beat that thing and save everyone."

After a while Cole rushes out of the door as the man looks on seriously.

            "Going to visit your friend in the hospital?"

            "Yeah, I want to make sure she's okay.

            "Well make sure you make your girlfriend happy." The man says jokingly.

            "She's not my girlfriend!" Cole yells rushing out of the door.

 

On the street in the middle of town Cole rushes along excitedly headed towards the hospital as a figure up above looks down at him seriously.

            "Now then, let's begin."

As Cole rushes along two figures appear behind him, before crashing down attempting to crush him only for him to dodge the attack and moving into an empty lot, as dust kicks up from the attack.

            "What is that?"

As the dust settles Cole sees a trio of Strikedramon in front of him approaching him slowly.

            "So then, these things are after me this time." Cole grabs his Digivice and looks forward seriously. "Well then Joulmon let's go, Digivolve!"

Cole holds up his Digivice as Joulmon pops out Digivolving into KiloWatmon and charging towards the Strikedramon.

            "Lightning Claw!"

KiloWatmon charges towards the Strikedramon slashing at them with its electrified claws as they attempt to claw at it only for it to dodge the attacks and slash at one of them before charging up an attack for the other two.

            "Lightning Burst!"

KiloWatmon unleashes a blast of electricity around the area hitting the other two Strikedramon taking them all out, before they dissolve into data and KiloWatmon reverts into Watmon.

            "Alright Watmon, we did it." Cole says excitedly. "But it did seem rather easy."

            "Of course it was it was only a test." A voice says from behind Cole. "And it seems you've passed."

As Cole turns around he sees a figure hidden in darkness looking down at him.

            "Who are you?"

            "I think this should answer your questions."

The figure holds out a purely black Digivice into the moon light as the figure of a Digimon appears by his side.

            "Do you have any more questions?"
